Pero Like’s branding has evolved since its founding in 2016. Originially focused on Latinx pop-culture, the brand now strives to embody the shared culture through coloful shapes inspired by pre-Columbian artwork and traditional patterns. The brand retained Proxima Nova as its core typeface, to more closely align the vertical with BuzzFeed's branding.

Pero Like x Spiritú

I was invited to create the 2019 Holiday Box for Pero Like's collaboration with Spiritú, a subscription box company that features products created by Latinx-owned businesses. The box was curated by Pero Like producers, and a portion of the proceeds was donated to Freedom For Immigrants.

Hair Flick is a BuzzFeed limited video series created exclusively for Facebook Watch. The show re-creates hairstyles from iconic films, so the branding evokes the bright neon pop that’s a part of the original movie-going experience.

NBC 2018 Winter Olympics Snapchat Channel

I was selected to be a part of th 16-person team of BuzzFeed creators sent to cover the 2018 Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang, South Korea. I acted as the Design Lead, establishing the look of NBC's channel, creating original illustrated content, and taking part in strategic brainstorms to boost our traffic.

The show follows two amateur sleuths as they test, and sometimes debunk, popular beauty myths in pop culture. The branding evokes modern beauty brands, with some of the show's quirkiness and humor thrown in.

BuzzFeed Unsolved

Unsolved is a mystery video series with a legion of dedicated fans. Series promotional art aims to capture Ryan and Shane's dynamic, while paying homage to different pop culture moments. Creating this imagery is a collaboration between photo and design teams, which allows us to take each season's art to unexpected new places.

Hispanic Heritage Month

I had the privilege of designing the company-wide assets for BuzzFeed's 2019 Hispanic Hertiage Month celebration. I aimed to represent what shared culture means to me: It’s being with family, spending time in our neighborhoods, eating our food, listening to our music, and celebrating one another. Assets went up across the website, video, and social accounts.

BuzzFeed Social Accounts

As an art director on the BuzzFeed Art Desk, I've been tasked with creating branding for many of their social accounts. This includes Instagram, Facebook, Snapchat, Newsletters, and O&O. Each account is aimed towards a different demographic, but the bright, fun aesthetic that is associated with BuzzFeed must ultimately shine through. Many accounts make use of strong, clean vector illustrations, to enable multiple designers to contribute throughout the life of the vertical.

Branding and motion graphics for Tasty's hit video series, Making It Big. The show follows Alvin Zhou as he pushes the limits of his cooking skills (and oven capacity). Designs tied into core Tasty branding, using large color-blocked graphics.

BuzzFeed Snapchat Discover Channel and Instagram Stories

I have been a part of the BuzzFeed Snapchat team since 2017. In that time I have created over 300 story interstitials, with a mix of original written, illustrated, and animated content. I have also converted a large number of posts from BuzzFeed writers and contributors into illustrated content for BuzzFeed's Instagram and Snapchat accounts. Designing for vertical stories has given me an extensive background in UX design, as creating content for multiple platforms requires a lot of creative problem solving.

In addition to designed content, I conduct brainstorms around social trends and manage design workflow for our Snap social channel.
